Train in the Actual Jet – No Simulator Limitations

Our Cirrus Vision Jet SF50 Type Rating program puts you in the real aircraft from day one. We offer both Pilot-in-Command (PIC) and Second-in-Command (SIC) type rating training for the Vision Jet, giving you the flexibility to qualify for either PIC or SIC privileges as needed.

Because your training and FAA checkride are conducted in the actual jet – not just a simulator – you won’t need to complete any supervised operating experience (SOE) after your checkride. Unlike simulator-only courses that leave you with post-training restrictions, our program allows you to walk away with a full type rating and immediate PIC privileges, with no extra hours or limitations required.

You’ll save time and gain true in-aircraft experience without the drawbacks of a sim-only program.

FAA Type Rating Requirements

(14 CFR 61.64)

Federal regulations (14 CFR 61.64(f) & (g)) outline different outcomes depending on whether your training is conducted in a simulator or the actual aircraft.

Here’s what that means for a Vision Jet type rating:

Simulator Training Path

If your SF50 type rating training and checkride are conducted entirely in an approved simulator, your pilot certificate will carry an “E” limitation: “Subject to pilot-in-command limitations.”

This means a supervised operating experience (SOE) requirement will apply — you’ll be required to log additional hours in the actual Vision Jet, under supervision, before exercising full PIC privileges.

Aircraft Training Path

If you conduct your training and practical test in the actual Vision Jet, no SOE is required and no such limitation is placed on your type rating. You earn full PIC privileges immediately upon certification, since you’ve met the FAA’s requirements by training in the real aircraft (per 14 CFR 61.64(f)).

According to 14 CFR 61.64(g), if your type rating includes a PIC limitation due to simulator-only training, the FAA requires the following to have that restriction removed:

  • Complete at least 25 hours of flight time in the Vision Jet (SF50) under the direct supervision of a qualified PIC who holds the SF50 type rating with no limitations.
  • Each flight must be logged, with the supervising PIC providing written confirmation in your logbook.
  • All 25 hours must be accumulated while you are acting as PIC under supervision — meaning you must perform the full duties of pilot-in-command during each flight.
  • Present documented evidence of this supervised experience to an FAA examiner or Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) to have the limitation officially removed from your pilot certificate.

FAQs

What kind of training do you offer?

We are insurance approved for initial and recurrent training. We also provide an array of training and pilot services to maximize your proficiency throughout the year such as special mission training, airplane and helicopter training.

Can I hire an instructor for custom missions or to meet insurance requirements?

Yes, we encourage our clients to develop their proficiency by using our instructors to safely experience expanded mission profiles such as busy terminal environments, mountain airport operations, challenging weather missions, and international flying, etc.

What can I expect during the course?

Each client will have a designated primary instructor responsible for mentoring them through the learning experience. Our schedule is 24/7/365, giving us the ability to adjust to your needs. You can expect sessions on knowledge acquisition via classroom sessions, avionics training, and hands on systems/abnormal procedures integration. There will also be much time spent on skill acquisition and development in the aircraft.

The syllabus is based on 7 full time training days. This can be adjusted based upon client requirements. The final evaluation flight with the Designated Pilot Examiner will be in an actual Vision Jet.

Are you associated with the OEM?

No, we are an independent training provider for SF50 type rating training. Berichi Aviation has been teaching single pilot jet type ratings since 2016 and now we are bringing our years of expertise to the SF50 community as a convenient alternative to the challenges in scheduling OEM training slots and unreasonable SOE hours (required when completing all simulator training).

Do you have DPE's on staff?

We work closely with highly experienced Designated Pilot Examiners to ensure a seamless experience from training through evaluation.

Does your course have a 25 Hour SOE requirement?

NO! Unlike initial jet type ratings done in a simulator, pilots graduating our course  do not have the 25 hour required supervised operating experience (SOE) limitation placed on their certificates!!!

What kind of training do you offer?

We offer insurance-approved initial and recurrent Cirrus Vision Jet SF50 training — accepted by most major aviation insurance providers. We also provide optional year-round services including mission-specific training, Bahama’s familiarization courses, International Flying, and proficiency coaching to keep you sharp.

Do you guarantee your training and timeline?

Yes. We are the only Vision Jet type rating provider in the world that offers a flat-fee program with a guaranteed completion timeline practical test endorsement.

How fast can I complete the course?

Our standard course runs 7 full days. Our streamlined one-on-one format eliminates wasted time and delivers efficient, high-quality instruction.

Is this program accepted by insurance companies?

Yes. Our training is insurance-approved with most carriers for both initial and recurrent training. Graduates of our course meet or exceed insurer requirements — we even work directly with your insurance provider, if needed.

Can I hire an instructor for insurance or special missions?

Absolutely. Many of our clients fly with our instructors for custom missions like mountain flying, terminal operations, international flying or advanced weather conditions to meet insurance requirements or expand their mission comfort zone.

What is the training experience like?

You’ll be paired with a dedicated instructor— no large group classes. Focusing on systems, avionics, and abnormal procedures, real-world flight and actual aircraft skill development.

Do I need to complete 25 Hours of SOE?

No. Since your checkride is done in the aircraft — not just a simulator — you’ll have no SOE limitation. You walk away with FULL PIC SINGLE PILOT privileges, ready to fly solo.

Do you have DPEs on staff?

We partner with highly experienced Designated Pilot Examiners to deliver a seamless experience from training to certification.

Are you affiliated with the OEM?

We are independent — and proud of it. We’ve been training pilots in single-pilot jets since 2016. Our program brings that expertise to the Vision Jet community without the long waitlists or inflated pricing.

How is your training different?

Unlike rigid Part 142 programs, our syllabus is performance-based and customized to your needs. Our instructors focus on core skills: manual flying, automation management, and sound decision-making. That’s why our graduates are better prepared — and more insurable.
